Good evening. It's been a long time.

He looked up from his PADD to see T’ersayek, and the faintest hint of a smile played at his lips. “T’ersayek,” he said quietly. “It has, indeed.”

She rose to her tiptoes and pressed a tentative kiss to his lips, fingers still twined with his.

He gently squeezed her fingers as he kissed her back, moving his free hand to cup the side of her face. When they broke apart, he leaned his forehead against hers, content to breathe and simply exist with her.

"As if you needed new ways to say things that rendered me speechless," she breathed, smiling at how freely things like that fell from her lips when he touched her,

She traced shapes on his palm, drawing imaginary lines that wound up his wrist.

He paused briefly, raising an eyebrow at her words.

"Indeed, you may have rendered me speechless as well," he murmured after a moment, once he’d recovered his voice.

"Captain!" He paused though, before he could actually pounce on the human, because that would be an un-Vulcan thing to do. Instead he settled for a somewhat less austere expression. "I have missed you."

"Spock, hey…" Jim breathed, small smile curling at full lips. His hands are firmly clasped around each other at the small of his back, spine straight and tall. They were practically the same height but Spock was capable of making him feel so short, perhaps it was the lithe build, the hidden strength beneath that skin. "I’ve missed you too."

Jim sighed, body sinking into Spock’s, face turning into his touch, soft but firm. His chest ached with how much he had missed this, had missed his Vulcan. Pulling back slightly, he nipped at Spock’s bottom lip before grinning.

"I have missed this," Spock murmured, cupping Jim’s face and allowing a small smile of his own to grace his lips as he pressed their foreheads together. "I have missed you, t’hy’la."

It was logically unnecessary to repeat such things, as it was fairly obvious, but Spock couldn’t help himself when it came to Jim.

drmbenga:

"They have isolated a few compounds that seem to boost the immune system by somehow inducing production of gamma globulins in general. They have yet to determine how precisely this works and have not been able to make tests on patients with hypogammaglobulinemia from elsewhere. The potential is huge though. Being able to boost the immune system in a way that increases the antibody count in general can be a major breakthrough in the field of epidemiology which is key for ships like ours that constantly make First Contact missions."

Geoff took a few moments to scan through the paper a little more. “The paper isn’t officially published yet, but I’m peer-reviewing it. However it seems that it’s been leaked and I’m not surprised. It’s pretty exciting stuff.”

"That does sound promising," agreed Spock. The medical benefits would especially benefit the crew of the Enterprise, as Dr M’Benga said. It would also come in handy should they ever discover any planets with environments that affect the regular function of an organism’s immune system. "Whose physiology is being tested? Different species have different reactions to things that attempt to alter the biochemistry of their immune systems, after all."

Put that down.

"And why the hell would I do that, Spock?! It may be the only way to save her!"

"Actually," Bones sighed as she straightened and turned towards a nearby table, "a lot of our medical staff is still planet side to help out with the epidemic. I could use all the help I can get." She didn’t like it very much, especially because Spock could be so…robotic at times, but she really did need his help. "Decontamination can wait a bit. There’s no guarantee that alone will be enough to destroy the disease and I need some time to further study it. Something seemed off about those vaccines…"

"I will endeavour to assist you in whatever way I can," replied Spock as he turned back to her, folding his hands behind his back. "How may I be of assistance, then?" Something did indeed seem off about the vaccines; perhaps a couple tests for the virus would reveal more information.

She realized she had been holding her breath right about the time his fingers found hers. She exhaled slowly, pressing her fingers to his. Her heart fluttered inside her chest, light and quick like a hummingbird.

"Have you?" She asked coyly, doing her best to conceal the smile playing at her lips. image

"It has been fascinating," he replied. "I have studied Klingon literature, for one." A huff of laughter escaped his lips at the recollection, before his fingers entwined themselves with hers and he could feel her emotions along with her racing pulse.

Jim couldn’t help but go that extra centimeter forward, to press his lips to Spock’s once more. His heart raced in his chest, body practically calling for Spock’s, fingers curling around Spock’s hand. So familiar, so loved, so wanted, the time apart had done nothing to stem his feelings, only made them grow, and ache from the distance.

He’d missed this, definitely, he’d missed the brush of fingers against fingers and the press of lips against lips. He’d missed every inch of Jim, from his eyes to his hair to his smile and oh — the emotions that rolled off the human in waves threatened to overwhelm him, but he controlled himself and kissed Jim back, his free hand coming up to cup Jim’s face.

drmbenga:

"Well it is actually a primary immune disease meaning that it is a genetic disorder. Hypogammaglobulinemia specifically is characterized by the reduction of all types of gamma globulins or antibodies that fight off disease. The native population of Malthus IV have a peculiar condition in which most of them seem to have this condition, however it is offset by consumption of the local fauna which had immune-boosting properties. It was only discovered after the Swanson was sent there to provide relief after a major drought drastically reduced the numbers of these plants.”

Geoff took a verbal break to sip some tea. “What is left to be discovered is whether or not these plants only help general cases of hypogammaglobulinemia or if it only benefits those with this local version.”

Spock raised an eyebrow, nodding. “I see,” he said. “And how close are they to a breakthrough in this study?” he asked, nodding towards the paper before sipping his own tea and flicking through his own article.

[alleyway] He immediately leapt into action against the assailant, taking them down with a couple blows and a Vulcan nerve pinch. Then he rushed to Jamie, kneeling down by her to inspect her injuries. "Captain, do you require medical assistance?"

"I’m fine, Spock." She sits up with a small groan. "Nothing a hot shower can’t fix."

He nods, slipping into the bar and returning quickly with the dermal regenerator. After briefly cleaning the blood off some of her injuries, he sets to work with the regenerator.

"Thanks for…" She gestures vaguely to the alleyway. "And for this…" She looks to the side, coughing awkwardly.

"It is only logical. As you said, it would be unprofessional to return to the ship like this." he pauses. "Also unwise. Even minor injuries become more severe if left untreated."
