"Nyota, I do not believe I have received the proper lyrics for these traditional Terran holiday songs that the Captain is insisting we sing at the party. They are far too vulgar."
Her features contort into a look of confusion as she lets his words sink in, wondering how someone could mess up something as simple as holiday songs.
And yet, some part of her knew that if the Captain was involved, it couldn’t be good.
"Well," she says. "What has he told you, so far?"
"Oh my god," she blurted, as soon as he finished. Uhura pressed her lips into a thin line, unsure what to think. It was completely inappropriate for Kirk to have done this, and yet, hearing how absolutely serious Spock was when he recited those words was an entirely new experience. Although, one thing was for sure:
She was going to kill him.
"You’re right…" she began, her tongue clicking in irritation. "Those are definitely not the right words at all."
"In order not to sing the wrong lyrics at the party, then, I would prefer for you to teach me the songs instead of the captain." Spock folded his hands behind his back. "After all, the chances of you teaching me the wrong lyrics are extremely low."
"Not illogical." Kirk mutters and gives Spock’s hand another sleepy tug, his fingers brushing against the half-Vulcan’s. "It’s snuggling and helps most people sleep." The sleepy captain tried to explain even as his eyes drifted closed. He felt completely relaxed and ready for a peaceful sleep, though he did wish his First Officer would join in him the bed so Jim could cuddle into him. If he hadn’t been so sleepy he may have realized the how highly unlikely that happening actually was.
"If it will assist you in your sleep, then I will ‘snuggle’ with you," replied Spock as he moved closer to his captain, removing his boots so that he could put his feet on the bed and lean against the pillows, pulling Jim close. He did not close his eyes; he merely used his touch to gauge how close Jim was to sleep, and to project feelings of relaxation and calm towards him.
Ashayam. please return to me. Though the ship has left orbit from where we last saw you, I believe that you may still be alive and waiting for us to find you. Waiting for me to find you. If you can give me any indication that you still alive out there, please inform me so that I may organise a rescue operation. Logic dictates that since you have been missing in our bond, you must be lost to me. I find myself inclined to disbelieve my logic and believe you to be alive. Please respond.
Jim isn’t entirely sure where he is. He feel suspended, though there is no harness or wire holding him up. It feels like the zero gravity chamber back at the Academy. Though, what Academy he’s not sure… Everything is hazy. He does not remember who he is, what he is… he just simply… exists. Floating. In darkness. He’s vaguely sure that he’s felt something similar to this before… but again he has no idea when, or why, or how.
All he does know… is that there’s something out there. Someone. Waiting for him.
"I am here…" He whispers into the inky black.
Bones took shot gun at the controls, nearly muscling Rand out of the way. The desperation to get to Jim was mounting, and he felt like by the time they get there… it’ll be too late. But he bit back that nagging feeling in his gut, refusing to believe that he would have to finally sign the death certificate. Wasn’t happening… Nope.
"You sure this is going to work?" Bones asked, just as he felt Spock land them on something, jarring in his seat at the impact. He stood, straightening the wet suit. "Alright… what’s the next course of action? We can just… swim right out there with the proper equipment and we’ll be fine? Because I really don’t want to have to save anyone else’s ass."
"That would be inadvisable," retorted Spock as he created a vacuum seal between their shuttle and the planet core below. "Outside the water pressure is 1342.2343 kPs. I have closed the hatch on the viewscreen for that express reason."
Striding to the place where their shuttle had sealed with the planet, Spock opened the hatch to reveal another door on the other end. “Sensors are reading that this core is hollow; whatever machinery resides within is not wired directly to its metallic shell. Based on the electric charges given by the ocean above, this planet utilises some form of electrical energy to generate heat for its continued habitability for life.”
He turned to look at the crew. “We may require jumpsuits for harsher conditions; whatever lies beyond this is killing our captain.”
"I believe that he would understand. Considering what he does with his other self." Spock nearly smirked.
Spock raised an eyebrow in amusement. “I am not surprised,” he intoned drily, extending his hand towards his counterpart.
i’m in the UK right now so i can literally do nothing about this but you bet your ass when i get home i will be
P L E A S E tune into almost human tonight 8pm est, even if you’re not watching just leave the channel on
it has potential to be SO GOOD and it’s just getting off its feet and fox is doing what it did to firefly and airing the episodes out of order which contributed to the cancellation of one of the greatest sci-fi series ever. while this show is a procedural and the first few episodes airing out of order might not seem to affect it greatly in the long run, the first few weeks of almost human (or any new show, really) are CRUCIAL because the ratings determine whether or not the show is picked up again
SO IF YOU LIKE ALMOST HUMAN, WATCH LIVE! SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE GRUMPY DETECTIVE AND HIS ANDROID BFF
I can’t stress this enough.
Please, please tune in to the show. It’s fantastic and if it gets cancelled I’ll be sad and I’ll probably whine about it non-stop and no one wants to see me cry cause it ain’t pretty.
